A few months back an artist/ friend of mine turned me on to the idea of mixing Tombow pens with with water to create washes of ink. The work he’s created with Tombow washes is gorgeous and I couldn’t believe the various tones and dept of color that came from a black Tombow pen (mixed with water). Since then, I’ve been giving it a go. Three to four (used) thick pads of paper later I started to (finalllly) get the hang of it. These two survived the trash can this week. The last one is from a previous post.

The artist/friend I was referring to is Jun-Pierre Shiozawa! In mid August he’s having a solo show in Paros, Greece. He recently created a Kickstarter account for the show, Sacred/Wild. Checkout his project!!!—> HERE

                                         Vertigo.Vertigo.Vertigo -Ink- 16” x 16”

The time has come! This weekend Gallery 1988:Venice is hosting their Alfred Hitchcock tribute show! “Suspense & Gallows Humor”. I’ve always been a huGe fan of Hitchcock’s work and he’s one of the directors that made me fall in love with the cinema. I love all his leading ladies but Kim Novak is by far my favorite. She oozes sexiness and I’ve always wanted to draw her so I created a piece based on Vertigo!

In Vertigo, Jimmy Stewart and Kim are literally a lethal combination and have great chemistry. Jimmy Stewart is another actor that I revere and was one of the greatest actors of his time. If you haven’t seen Vertigo yet you musT! If you’d like to see Jimmy and Kim outside the realm of Hitchcock horror I recommend renting Bell Book and Candle! I love that movie too.

This scene (around 3:04-see clip below) inspired me to use green. Although I wasn’t able to pull off the same exact  shade of green from the film (an entire 18” × 24” pad of watercolor paper laterrr) I’m happy with how the ink wash came out.

It’s truly an honor to be apart of another one of Gallery 1988’s group shows! If your in LA this Friday(or within the next 2 weeks) come to the show and checkout all the great work! All the info is located HERE! I have two more group shows lined up with Gallery 1988 so stay tuned.

On another note, I’m note sure how many of you have seen The Artist but the music they used at the climax of the film was from Vertigo! I thought the piece of music worked great in The Artist too but..yea..It was in Vertigo first.

Hey y’all!Happy Easter! When I think of Easter I think of ‘bad’ bunnies. So, naturally, I drew a few. I had a few more bad bouncing bunnies in mind but I’ll save them for next year.

When I think of Easter I also think of crazy cool homemade Easter eggs, Easter baskets from my childhood, hugE Easter cookies I make every year and the Easter ‘forts’/aisles of candy, crap, and more crap that blossom in every (American)grocery store around this time of year.

I came across this short story by the (all mighty) David Sedaris and thought you’d enjoy it too. I love love love David Sedaris (and This American Life)! Hope you have a lovely holiday!

O! And for all of you celebrating Passover this week..Happy Passover!

Spring has finally arrived! When I think of spring I think of shopping(/ransacking Bloomingdale sales racks on the hunt) for pretty things and flowers flowers flowers. These two ladies came straight out of my sketchbook and seem to have the same thing/s on their mind.

My work was featured in Jamrock Magazine’s Spring 2012 issue and just this morning I got a copy of it! My 12 Days of a Hofessional Christmas was used with an article titled “Luxur-really?” written by Jeana Kolson. The article focuses on the psychology behind luxury name brands. Go get the magazine and check it out!

P.S Just in case you missed it on my Instagram, my dad celebrated his birthday this week and this time around I tricked out his birthday card a bit. He is by far the coolest and funniest guy I know. http://instagr.am/p/IYG0gYNZWe/

After I finished up the last (fashion illustration) post I soon found a few more pieces I wanted to illustrate. This time around I illustrated two masculine/seductive A.F Vandevorst looks and one of Gucci’s gorgeous siren gowns. While I was going through the second half of shows I also came across Dion Lee’s collection. This was his first collection for London fashion week and I can’t wait to see more of his work down the line. If there were (any!) detailed shots of his pieces I would’ve drawn his entire collection. I’ve posted my favorite looks from his collection.(See below)  Check him out!

If you’re one of those individuals who can’t get enough of vitamin F(ashion!!!) and are up on all the current events in that (crazy crazy) world you already know fashion week is pretty much wrapping up. Although I don’t post fashion illustrations(that mainly focus on a specific garment/s) my background is in fashion design. I received my BFA in Fashion Design from Otis College of Art and Design in ‘09.

I love fashion design and see the clothes/looks/accessories on the runways/s as pieces of art more than just product/s I want to possess. I hate the idea of fast lived ‘trends’ and find the fashion world can be quite overwhelming at times and have realized I enjoy it far more at a distance than (constantly) being in the thick of it. So, when fashion week is in full swing I like to ‘check in’ and see what’s new.

Here are two quick sketches in two very different styles. The two figured sketch is the style I used for school work and the ink drawing is something straight out of my sketchbook.

I’ve also attached some of my favorite looks from this season. There are soooo many fashion shows I have yet to go through but, thus far, these are some of the looks I love.

I lovvve finding new short films on Vimeo and last year I came across Scott Foley’s work. His short film Slow Down is one of my all time favorite finds and I mentioned it in a blog post back in June! Earlier this month Scott contacted me. He said he liked my work, saw I was a fan of his work as well and was wondering if I could design a logo for him(to be placed in his future films). Days later this is what I came up with! I’m so glad Scott reached out and feel honored to be included in his future work! The moral of the story: Connect, collaborate, create and repeat! Collaborating with artists/creatives is one of my favorite activities.

If you and or your company need a logo I’d love to create one for you too!
